3 Diet Tips You Should Ignore
1. Fat Makes Fat
While fat has more calories per gram than protein and carbs, it is entirely inaccurate to say that eating fat is bad for you. In fact, your body needs good healthy fats like monounsaturated Omega 3s just as much as it needs protein and carbohydrates, just less of it.
2. Cut Out Carbs
Cutting out carbs is just as bad as cutting out fat. Would you ever consider cutting out protein? Again, carbs, fats and protein are the three macro-nutrients that your body needs in order to stay in perfect working order. Cutting out any of those three will leave you malnourished. However, just like fat, it’s important to consider what kind of carbs you’re eating. Refined, bleached and overly processed carbs aren’t doing a lick of good for your body, but the good carbs found in whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables are the cornerstone of sustaining consistent energy, maintaining a healthy weight, preventing disease and keeping your mind sharp.
3. Load Up Protein
While protein is definitely necessary for optimal health, too much of it is not so great. Eating too much protein, just like not eating enough carbs or fat, can throw your body out of nutritional balance. Focusing your diet on a lot of protein-only foods, like meat, runs you the risk of eating too much unhealthy saturated fat which in turn can cause high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease and digestive issues.
