Sebaceous filaments bring Sebum on our skin surface. Sebum is a very vital element on our skin. It helps to keep our skin moist and makes it waterproof. Some people, however, contain more sebum in their skin which becomes noticeable in form of a yellow or whitehead on the skin. The noticeable sebaceous filaments can sometimes be very distressing and can cause distraction.
Most people are always tempted to squeeze them which is not a good idea. Squeezing them does not completely eliminate them, as they return to the same spot after a while. Squeezing them will only cost you time and pain and sometimes scarring of the skin.
There are several ways through which you can eliminate the sebaceous filaments:
1. USING THE BAKING SODA
This is the most efficient way of eliminating them. Baking soda(sodium bicarbonate) exfoliates your skin by opening up the pores that might be closed by the dead skin cells. This will reduce the amount of oil produced by your skin and eventually reduce the filaments.
> First wash your face with lukewarm water to help the pores to open up.
>Then prepare a paste by mixing some baking soda with water.
>Apply the paste on the affected areas of the skin.
>Leave the paste on your skin for about three minutes then rinse it off.
>Perform this procedure twice a week.
2. USE SKINCARE PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN ANTIOXIDANT INGREDIENTS
The sebaceous filaments are mostly white or yellow in color. Sebum darkens when it is oxidized causing the dark spots on your skin. Using antioxidants will ensure that no oxidation takes place and therefore you will not experience any appearance of dark spots on your skin.
3. USE BENZOYL PEROXIDE
This product exfoliates your skin and also gets rid of the excess sebum.
>First wash your skin and then dry it using a soft towel.
>Apply some small amount of benzoyl peroxide on the affected parts of the skin.
>leave it there for about three minutes and then rinse it off.
>Repeat this procedure every night.
4. CLAY MASK
Using a clay mask at least once per week is also a very effective way of eliminating the filaments. Clay masks like french green clay and multni mitti clay absorbs oil on the skin and also exfoliate the dead skin opening up the your skin pores. This process will prevent the accumulation of too much sebum that may cause the appearance of the filaments.
5. AVOID OVER EXFOLIATING YOUR SKIN
Over-washing your skin will not help in reducing the filaments, it sometimes increases them instead. You should be aware of the ingredients in your detergent as some of them may cause the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum. Foaming cleansers are most likely to cause inflammations on the skin. Over exfoliating the skin will also encourage more production of sebum.
6. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR SKIN HYDRATED
Drinking a lot of water will help your whole body and the skin stay hydrated. The production of sebum will therefore be lower and your pores will always be open too, therefore they will not be blocked by any impurities.Any of the above remedies can help your skin stay smooth and free from the filaments as long as its done in the right way. You don’t have to suffer any kind of distress due to the filaments anymore.
